Letter from the planning team:
Welcome to the AMWA Region 4 Conference!
During a pivotal time in our region’s history, premeds, medical students, residents, esteemed faculty, and physician leaders from Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina will gather at Florida State University College of Medicine to develop connections, share perspectives, and build bridges.
In connection with this year's theme,“Raise Your Voice in Medicine,” women will gather in Florida’s capital to discuss challenges, share stories of success, and give advice aligned with AMWA's mission to empower women. Speakers include the immediate-past National President of AMWA, a Chief Medical Officer of a major community healthcare system, Medical Residency Directors, and others. Through thought-provoking discussions, interactive skills-building workshops, and networking, attendees will develop life-long connections and deeper perspectives on health policy, humanism, leadership, and advocacy.
Taking Maya Angelou’s advice to heart, that the "mission of life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style," we hope that attendees will leave our conference feeling more connected, inspired, and grounded.
We look forward to seeing you in Tallahassee!
Best,
2018 Conference Planning Committee
Samia Taoulost, Region 4 Director, AMWA National Medical Student Division
Erin Schultz, Region 4 Director, AMWA National Premedical Student Division
Sara Ardila, Past Region 4 Director, AMWA National Medical Student Division
Anisha Kesarwani, Treasurer, AMWA FSU College of Medicine Chapter
Alyssa Allem, Lead Editor, FSU-COM HEAL magazine (Humanism Evolving through Arts and Literature)
AMWA Chapter's E-Board at FSU-COM (Kelly Mamelson; Courtney Alexander; Sonia Koul; Nicole Jimenez)
